Simply, detoxification is the removal of toxic substances from your body. Unfortunately, if you’ve been abusing toxic substances for a period of time, you’ll have withdrawal symptoms. These can be painful and even dangerous. Here, the detoxification process is safe and secure. At all times, you’ll be monitored and taken care of by our experienced medical professionals. We can guide you through the process, making it less risky than it would be. That way, you can move onto the next, sober stage of your life that much easier.
First, you’ll go through a comprehensive assessment with our medical team. They’ll go over just about everything: your medical history, your substance abuse history, you’ll receive a physical examination, laboratory testing (if necessary), and more. Using that information, they’ll create a treatment plan for you.
Detoxification itself tends to last for a period of days, up to a week. How long detox lasts depends on factors such as your health, how severe your addiction was, what substances you were using, and more.
When you’re in the detox process, our medical team will monitor you, providing emotional support and reducing your withdrawal symptoms, even doing so with medication if we have to.
Possibly. This depends on your insurance plan, your coverage, etc. What we can tell you is that more insurance policies cover detox as well as other facets of substance abuse treatment than you may think. This includes many that are provided through the ACA (Affordable Care Act).
Our team is more than happy to work with you in going over your treatment options, what’s covered, and how you can pay. We also recommend that you contact your insurance provider so that you know if there are any restrictions in regards to your network, requirements of pre-authorization, and so forth.
Yes. Withdrawal symptoms are likely. Your body has become dependent upon a toxic substance. Once that substance is removed, your body will have to adjust. That adjustment can be painful and even dangerous. In our detox treatment, we will monitor your withdrawal symptoms to make sure that you are always safe. Moreover, we’ll do everything we can to make you as comfortable as possible through the process.
While most experience symptoms not all experience severe symptoms. For example, hopefully, your symptoms are mild. However, your symptoms could include nausea, anxiety, insomnia, constant shaking, and worse. These are just some of the reasons that it’s best to go to a medical detox where a team can support you every step of the way.
We do not recommend home detox. There are too many risks. Withdrawal symptoms can become severe very quickly, leading to serious and even irreversible complications. Should that or other emergencies occur, when you’re in a detox facility with professional supervision, trained staff members can step in immediately to improve your condition and administer care. By going to a safe, medical detox, you give yourself the best chance of lasting success.
Detox is step one. It is only the beginning. A strong majority continue treatment after detox. Examples of proven effective treatments include IOP (Intensive Outpatient Treatment), Inpatient/Residential Treatment, and Outpatient Treatment. There, you’ll receive individualized care which includes therapy, support groups, and much more.
For the most part, these treatments focus on the underlying “root causes” of your addiction. By addressing those, you’ll be in the best position to have the necessary coping strategies to prevent relapse.
Here, we’ll do everything in our power to build a treatment plan that’s just right for you. That way, when you complete detox, you can take the next steps forward on your recovery journey.
What to Expect
Upon your arrival at our facility, you will embark on the initial intake procedure. Your first step will involve a meeting with our admissions staff to complete the required paperwork. Following that, you will have a consultation with a nurse who will initiate the health screening protocols, which encompass the assessment of your vital signs and blood parameters. This data serves as the foundation for creating your medical chart, a tool employed for monitoring your health throughout the initial phases of your recovery process.
During the initial 72 hours of your stay, you will have a meeting with a certified social worker who will conduct a comprehensive biopsychosocial assessment. This assessment delves into the biological, psychological, and social elements that have played a role in your condition. The findings from this assessment will shape the clinical treatment plan for your residential inpatient period.
Our medical doctor (MD) will oversee the detoxification phase. The detox process typically spans a duration of 3 to 7 days, during which our resident team will provide continuous monitoring. Depending on your specific detox protocol, you may receive prescription medications, such as suboxone and methadone, to help alleviate and manage your withdrawal symptoms.
Following a successful detox, our residential inpatient program places significant emphasis on the internal exploration to uncover and address the underlying causes of your addiction. This program usually spans 30 days and offers individual sessions with a designated psychiatrist. In addition, we offer weekly group therapy sessions, access to a fully equipped gym, chiropractic and acupuncture services, yoga, and a wide array of additional resources.
